Transition Sydney adopts Bioregional focus

Submitted by admin on Fri, 21/11/2008 - 22:33

At its monthly meeting on 12th November 2008, after discussion over several meetings, Transition Sydney adopted as its regional focus the Sydney Basin Bioregion. Previously TS had not specifically defined its geographic focus other than the greater metropolitan area of Sydney.

This decision effectively extends our area of interest and focus to a much larger area incorporating the Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Illawarra and Shoalhaven areas and the Blue Mountains. This decision does not suggest any ideas of regional ownership sovereignty or control - that is not the Transition Towns way - simply a desire to promote Transition initiatives widely and encourage communication and sharing between local initiatives throughout this area.
