Local initiatives are in their early stages of development in several areas of metropolitan Sydney. Theye have been started up by people who share an awareness of a need for community-led action to help make their part of Sydney more resilient, and are attracted to the inclusive ethos and positive vision of the transition model. Some of these people are long-term activists in various areas of environment and sustainability while for others their involvement is a new experience. It doesn't matter where you come from - it's where you want to be in the future that counts!
Most initiatives will be focused within a Local Government (Council) area, but over time smaller or larger areas might be chosen as a suitable focus for transition initiatives. Presently there are initiatives early in the process of starting up in
