Welcome to Transition North Shore
We are a small group of very nice people interested in making the North Shore more sustainable by following the Transition Towns recipe of community-led rebuilding of localized and self reliant communities and reducing CO2 emissions.
Last year we focused on awareness raising by convening two CSIRO Energymark groups and hosting Footprint parties. We are pleased to have been awarded a council grant for the Footprint parties. The grant ends around March and if you are interested in having a group of friends learn more about how to save energy and improve their carbon footprint during a fun evening, let us know.
Currently we are developing ideas to promote localized food production and consumption, such as increasing the use of produce from growers in the Galston Gorge area and promoting a veggie exchange. We are open to working on other issues if someone has a particular interest and with other groups.
If you are interested in joining us or know anyone else who may like to join in, please feel free to join us. The idea is to network and share interests and meet other people in our community, creating a tapestry of ideas and connections we put into action to create a more sustainable community.
